Debris Skateboards is now Hardtimes skateboards. New decks are in they look good. Hardtimes is putting on a contest up at Rockwell skatepark in Bristol CT on Saturday, July 25th. What a day. Happy Birthday to us! DayOne is four years old today, thanks to all for your continued support of a locally skateboarder owned and operated shop. Happy Go Skateboarding Day, we'll be open as scheduled 12p - 4p then skating. Happy Fathers Day to all the pops. And final bit of good news, Breaking Ground won the bid for construction on the Fairfield Skatepark and they do great work. Looking forward to skating some concrete this fall.

Skatepark of Tampa and artist Chad Cardoza are at it again. This year Chad Cardoza made a one-of-a-kind wood cut deck that was signed by a number of the skaters who participated in the Tampa Pro 2009. Chad Cardoza, in his opinion, took part of one of the greatest graphics of all time (Lance Mountain Future Primitive), cut it out and mounted it back into the deck. The deck was then on display in the Pro Shop and signed as the pros passed through. And just like last year's playground turtle, all of the proceeds from the sale of this deck will go to the Johnny Romano Fund! Some of the guys that signed the deck include: P-Rod, Tony Trujillo, Stephan Janoski, Geoff Rowley, Brian Anderson, Nick Dompierre, Mike Peterson, Kyle Berard, Johnny Layton, Mikey Taylor and more...So once again, please bid and buy yourself a piece of skate history here on ebay while knowing the monies are going to help out a great family...the family of a kid who touched all of our hearts.

In skateboarding news, we are collecting feedback to submit to the Town of Fairfield on the need for a better skatepark. If you haven't seen what Stamford or Groton has done, go there and check it out. Please send thoughts, ideas, comments, etc.. on the reasons behind the need for a new park to skate-fairfield@hotmail.com. Thanks for your support. Also don't forget, DayOne skate night returns on Saturday, Oct 13th at Compo Skate Park in Westport. It'll be free, bring a helmet. There will be prizes. New decks from Black Label, new Zip Zingers and Zig Zaggers to zoom around town on. Two new DVDs are in, Volcom's Let's Live and Listen's Viajeros Locos. Also in, new issue of Slap Magazine and new issue of The Skateboard Mag (free DVS dvd with it). Also other new random stuff, I don't even know...it's out on the shelves so you can see for yourself. Save the dates: First Friday for October. Friday October 5th you won't want to miss. Anthony Acock is going to be selling his art for whatever quantity he creates. If he only hits 40 pieces he'll only sell them for 40 bucks, if he does 35 they'll cost 35 each....and so forth. So basically you will be getting a serious bargain no matter what. The gallery space will be jammed. In skate news, DayOne will be hitting up Compo Beach to welcome Caleb and Russell to the team and give some goodies away...that will go down on Saturday, October 13th at 4pm. Today is June 21st, our 2nd anniversary of being in business. Thanks to everyone who makes the effort to come down and support our shop, rejecting all the mail order catalogs, the internet, and the mall. The mall sucks. Thanks to everyone who made an effort to come out to Compo Beach in Westport on Saturday, unfortunately the weather won out and shut down the skate session. We will be rescheduling a trip back soon so stay tuned for the date. In other good news, the main man behind the creative efforts & super cool gallery at DayOne and his wife are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. Ella Von Wahlde was born today June 18th. Congrats to Mike and Jen!

Don't forget this Saturday DayOne heads to Compo Beach Skatepark in Westport at 5:30pm. Helmets required. I'll be giving something away. I'm not sure what it is yet and I'm not sure what will win it. Maybe we'll have a best trick down that huge rail off the side of the half pipe? Would flair points count as extra? On Wed, June 21st DayOne will be closing at 2pm for Go Skateboarding Day. "Wild in the streets of Fairfield" is going down and will be starting at 11am. For more info go here. Lastly, the es game of skate on June 30th will be changing venues. Stratford doesn't want to play nice so we'll take our game elsewhere, most likely Seaside Park in Bridgeport. Stay tuned for more updates.
